Summary of Wireless Internet Awareness Event
The Dayton Microcomputer Association, Inc. (DMA®)
is organizing its own volunteers as well as independent community volunteers
in an effort to introduce Miami Valley citizens and guests to a new service
which the City of Dayton and local businesses are offering.
On Friday & Saturday, April 29 & 30, an event which is free and open
to the public will take place to introduce individuals to Downtown Dayton's
free, wireless network. At this time, one square mile of Downtown Dayton's streets,
parks and much of Sinclair Community College will be available to those seeking
free, wireless Internet access.
Volunteers will guide individuals with wireless-enabled laptop computers or
handheld PDA's through the short process of connecting their device to the wireless
network and will give them a brief explanation of how the system works.
Volunteers will be trained in the correct procedures to introduce new users
to wireless Internet access and will direct interested individuals to short
(max. one hour) seminars on more in-depth information about wireless networks.
